We will be taking the train down this evening to get our tickets early, so those of you who are already in the hotel may see us wandering around. I need to check the 3rd floor for potential meetup space.
Well, it's hell week again - the week before the Fall semester begins. This means all the faculty will be back and we discover all the crap that needs to get done that slipped by. I know we will be cancelling courses left and right, which is an annoying process because we have to contact each student and try to move them into another class so we can still keep our numbers up. It's a REAL pain. The times when we had a waiting list for every single section is gone forever.
We also have that stupid faculty convocation on Thursday evening, then we have to show up bright and early for the 'everybody else' convocation on Friday morning. Bleh.
Gotta colour my hair tonight or it won't get done, and it HAS to get done.
Saturday, we are driving down to Austin for a bjd con, then driving back that evening.
Then, the following week will have me walking at least 10 minutes across the hot fields and parking lots to get to work because the idiots are parking on one side of the campus (where half of the staff need to park so they can get to work but OUR campus doesn't have faculty/staff parking the others do because we are all equal, says the president with the close parking spot) when their classes are on the other side of campus.
I am not going to give ANY spoilers here, but LOTS of interesting things are revealed/confessed.
Those who already know about Akito from the fandom - all is revealed. What you may NOT know about is info about Kureno (the Rooster) and Shigure (the Dog).
I got the manga in the mail last night when I got home and HAD to sit down and read it cover to cover, yelling out loud at certain places.
It was great seeing Hatori (the Dragon) again - he's still my favorite.
Anyway, to those following the series - get thee to the bookstore now!
Just fyi: The Ouran subtitles in this boxed set are HORRIBLE! *laughs* Luckily, I know a lot from the manga now, as well as the fansubs, so when it gets really confusing, I usually know what's going on. And I have been going to Spencer's online dictionary for when something short in Japanese pops up and the translation is wonky.
My few semesters in Japanese, though I feel I am still at toddler level, has really helped me. I do use it, usually when we are watching anime with store fronts or signs.
I only have the first four translated manga of Yami no Matsuei (what great artwork!) so I looked through the rest of my Japanese editions and picked up on a few words, too. Yay, me! Having some Japanese manga around does help keep me from completely losing what little Japanese I have in hard memory.
On the gaming front: We are playing Racket and Clank II right now, and having a blast! We did not realize we hadn't played it. After we are done, we go on to R&C3, which we had started, then realized we didn't know some of the characters, which made us realize we had skipped an entire game. Now that a new game will be available for the PS3 in the future, it makes us think more about getting one. We will still wait for prices to go down on the PS3, though.
We started God of War, but again, it was just a lot of hitting so when rat is in the mood to be more destructive, we will continue it.
Manga: I was going to put aside some money for manga this month, but we are going to do a day trip to a bjd con in Austin toward the end of this month and I know I will be wanting to purchase some clothes for my resin bishies.
